Animal Testing Cruelty Free

One question we get asked a lot is “Are your products cruelty free?”

Animal Testing Cruelty Free – Perfume Extract wholly supports non testing on animals and the use of alternatives to testing on animals, therefore we aim to source materials mainly within the EU and from companies that follow the same ethic, i.e. those that do not test fragrance or flavour materials on animals. It is also our understanding that in the case of cosmetic ingredients, the suppliers that we use follow the EU Cosmetics regulation meaning they have not had any animal based tests as defined in that regulation, particularly since the regulation banned testing on animals back in 2013.

Since the inception of the ban on animal testing within the EU, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has approved a new cruelty-free toxicology testing strategy jointly developed by BASF and Givaudan that can be used to predict whether a substance causes allergic reactions in the skin. This is a giant step forward in the ongoing development of materials using alternative methods to testing on animals and one that we fully support 🙂

We look forward to a day where all animals can be safe from laboratory testing and properly protected by laws worldwide. Until that time, we will continue to source our materials from ethical suppliers that share the same values as us.
