The accidental discovery of Cassiffix occurred during IFF R&D’s pursuit of creating new cyclic ethers with oxabicyclooctane structures, initially expecting an amber scent derived from the campholenic backbone. Ultimately, the structure of Cassiffix revealed a distinct Cassis aroma.

Among the limited number of long-lasting Cassis ingredients available, Cassiffix stands out as a noteworthy exception to the typical top note nature of Cassis scents.

Cassiffix is versatile and can be used in various fragrance types, including:

• Red berry and tropical accords

• Sweet, vanilla, and powdery formulations, where it imparts a gourmand feel

• Citrus compositions, enhancing their brightness
