Benzaldehyde
Synthetic Bitter Almond Oil
Benzaldehyde is one of the earliest perfumery materials to be produced industrially; being prepared from toluene from as early as 1866. Benzaldehyde is a top note material (the smallest of the aromatic aldehydes) requires careful blending due to its high vapour pressure and low detection threshold that allows it to dominate the opening stages of a fragrance in which it is used.
Used for creating special top note effects and perfect in trace amounts when creating certain floral compositions.
