Canarium Luzonicum

Elemi is a top note with enlivening, energizing, cleansing, and clarifying properties.

Occurring naturally as a resin, a pale yellow substance with a honey-like consistency, Elemi essential oil is obtained from the precious resin through the process of steam distillation.

This fragrant oil boasts a sharp pine and lemon-like scent, attributed to its main components: Terpineol, Elemicine, Elemol, Dipentine, Phellandrene, and Limonene.

Derived from the fragrant gum of Canarium luzonicum trees, Elemi is native to the Philippines.

Similar to Frankincense and Myrrh, these trees from the same family; produce a sharp, green, aromatic gum when their bark is cut.

With its rich traditional use in the Philippines and growing popularity in modern aromatherapy, Elemi is gaining recognition for its beneficial properties.

With versatile applications in embalming, skincare, and medicine, it resembled other oils like Palo Santo.

Revered for its antibacterial properties in the Middle East, Elemi aided wound healing and scar reduction.

In the 16th century, it made its way to Europe, where it became a staple in folk medicine and even found use in treating soldiers’ battle wounds.
