Karmawood IFF
Karmawood by IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances) was until fairly recently a captive ingredient used exclusively in IFF’s fragrance creations and not available to independent perfumers.
While not as potent as Norlimbanol, Karmawood offers the advantage of being comparatively more affordable. Karmawood contains 65% of the trans isomer compared to Norlimbanol’s 95%, resulting in easier melting and a slightly more floral scent if solidified. IFF characterises Karmawood as a substantive woody, powdery amber note with creamy sandalwood undertones that enhance fragrances’ strength and longevity.
Optimal performance is noted in candles, detergents, fabric conditioners, soaps, shower gels and similar products, with exceptional results in fine fragrances.
It works extremely well with musk, vanilla, balsamic, and floral notes, making it a valuable base note.
Use in oriental, woody, and amber-based fragrances to enhance warmth, depth and longevity.
