Cashmeran D
Cashmeran by IFF is a modern icon of perfumery—an olfactive signature that wraps compositions in a sensual veil of warmth, texture, and radiance.
At once diffusive and intimate, it reveals a captivating duality: a spicy, musk-like depth enriched by luminous floral reinforcement and softened by powdery, velvet-smooth nuances.
The result is an enveloping aura that feels both sophisticated and effortlessly addictive.
Its discovery is as intriguing as its scent. During the analysis of impurities within a gas chromatography trace, an IFF researcher identified an unusual hydrocarbon that sparked curiosity.
Through careful manipulation and oxidation, this unexpected molecule was transformed into what we now know as Cashmeran—a material that would go on to redefine the structure of modern fragrance accords.
In its pure form, Cashmeran is a solid, presenting challenges in handling and formulation.
Exceptionally versatile, Cashmeran excels across a wide spectrum of olfactive styles.
It pairs seamlessly with Timbersilk, Eugenol, Damascenone, and Citronellol, enhancing and amplifying their facets.
It is particularly prized in the creation of spicy carnation florals, rich orientals, textured woody accords, and musky amber compositions, where its diffusive warmth adds both body and lift.
Its impact in fine fragrance is undeniable. Used in striking concentrations—up to 25%—by renowned perfumers Maurice Roucel and Alessandro Gualtieri, Cashmeran plays a defining role in iconic creations such as Dans Tes Bras (Frederic Malle, 2008) and Duro (Nasomatto, 2007), where its tactile softness and woody sensuality are pushed to bold, expressive extremes.
In contemporary perfumery, Cashmeran is also a cornerstone of many Oud and Agarwood-inspired accords.
When paired with Kephalis, it acts as a seamless bridge between the dark, resinous woods and the animalic, musky depths of Oud.
Its subtle coniferous facets and delicate interplay of fruity-floral musk tones bring balance, refinement, and a distinctive modern signature to these compositions.
Elegant, innovative, and endlessly adaptable, Cashmeran remains an essential material for perfumers seeking to create fragrances with depth, texture, and a lasting emotional impression.

I bought this specifically to see it in combination to create a deeper amber accord and it adds so much with out changing the core of the scent. I need to use it more in different combinations to see how it will combine but it adds a soft warmish musky kind of mid layer.
