Labdanum Absolute
Labdanum Absolute is a highly sought-after fragrance ingredient derived from the gum-resin of Cistus ladaniferus.
Known for its sticky consistency, this material serves as a valuable addition to various fragrance compositions, particularly those of amber, incense, and chypre types.
Notably, the absolute possesses a distinctive aroma reminiscent of ambergris, further enhancing its allure.
As one would expect with most absolutes, the production of this highly desirable material incurs a higher cost, prompting its utilisation in combination with other materials like Ambroxan, Vertenex, Copaiba Balsam & Vertofix.
The Absolute is a dark brown liquid derived from the Concrète through alcohol extraction.
Labdanum Concrète, on the other hand, is obtained by extracting the leaves and twigs of Cistus Ladaniferus and other Cistus species using hydrocarbon solvents.
The extraction process usually occurs after the inflorescence, but it may also occur earlier.
Known for its strong and sweet fragrance, the absolute is widely utilised as a fixative in various fragrance applications.
Additionally, it offers skincare benefits, particularly for wrinkles, mature skin and dry skin.
