Polysantol (Firmenich)
Polysantol is a beautifully rich and diffusive Sandalwood material of great strength and quality.
Polysantol by Firmenich is very substantive, providing terrific diffusive Sandalwood effects, that produces a real Sandalwood character throughout the composition all the way from the top to the heart and the base notes.
Compared to natural sandalwood oil, Polysantol is often described as smoother, slightly sweeter, and less dry.
Polysantol is chemically classified as a linear sesquiterpene alcohol.
It is commonly used to enhance longevity, diffusion and roundness of a fragrance and is often blended with other woody, floral, or oriental notes.
Since natural Sandalwood is often overharvested and expensive, Polysantol offers an ethical, sustainable, and cost-effective powerful Sandalwood odourant alternative.
Comparison to other Sandalwood Replacers:
-
Softer and rounder than Ebanol
-
Less spicy than Javanol
-
More natural-smelling and radiant than Santaliff

THIS IS MY FIRST OUT OF THE TOP 2: really great as a stand alone sandalwood note and quite noticeable too. None of this ‘ooh can you smell it or not’
It’s true what perfumers say. It does have a slightly higher impact than Javanol. Although I would also recommend Javanol in your arsenal if your crazy about sandalwood odourants
It’s also good in wax melts.
