Bergamot EO Sicilian
Bergamot EO Sicilian, derived from the small green-yellow fruit known for its essential oil contained in the oil-bearing pockets of the peel of the pericarp, is a key ingredient in Eau de Cologne, along with Lavender and Neroli.
Grown primarily in Calabria and Sicily, Italy, the bergamot tree reaches a height of four meters and blooms with fragrant white flowers.
The fruits ripen between December and March, and the resulting cold-pressed essential oil exudes a citrusy, agrestic fragrance with a floral undertone reminiscent of lavender.
Bergamot essential oil, known for its rich, sweet, and fruity aroma, contains terpenes and small amounts of citral and aliphatic aldehydes that give it a fresh top note.
Unlike other citrus oils, Bergamot oil has a fixative effect at high concentrations.
It’s main chemical constituent, Linalyl Acetate, contributes to its well-balanced odour with Coumarin derivatives. A popular choice among aromatherapists, Bergamot is believed to have a soothing effect on the mind and help alleviate worried thoughts.
