Vetiveryl Acetate D
Vetiveryl Acetate is a semi-synthetic compound derived from vetiver oil that is commonly used in perfumery.
It comes from the roots of the vetiver plant (Chrysopogon zizanioides), a grass native to India
It’s an acetate ester, specifically the acetic acid ester of vetiverol, a sesquiterpene alcohol found in vetiver oil.
Frequently used in both masculine and unisex fragrances.
It adds depth, longevity, and a refined woody backbone without the rough edges of natural vetiver.
Vetiveryl acetate is favored for its versatility, stability, and pleasant refinement of vetiver’s rugged aroma.
It can act as a fixative and is often blended with other woody notes, musks, citrus, and florals.
Vetiveryl acetate is inherently long-lasting, but combining it with musks and Ambroxan enhances performance.
You’ll find it in perfumes like:
- Terre d’Hermès by Hermès
- Grey Vetiver by Tom Ford
- Encre Noire by Lalique
- Molecule 03 by Escentric Molecules
