Ethyl Maltol

Ethyl Maltol has a dreamy, sugary sweet, caramel, strawberry jam-like odour evocative of freshly spun candy floss.

It’s an extremely powerful material commonly used in high dilution for adding sweetness to a blend or in conjunction with Vanilla to produce a seductively, edible scent.

Trace amounts used in combination with fruity esters produce realistic fruit accords, particularly Strawberry, Pineapple, Nectarine, Peach and Apricot.

With Allyl Hexanoat, it will give the illusion of fresh Pineapples. Likewise when used in combination with Gamma Octalactone and Stemone, Ethyl Maltol will create the illusion of ripe figs and with Fructone will lend itself to the illusion of fresh Strawberries.

Ethyl maltol plays a significant role in adding a warm, sweet, and almost gourmand note to the popular Baccarat Rouge 540 by Maison Francis Kurkdjian.

While Baccarat Rouge 540 is largely known for its complex blend of saffron, ambergris, and cedarwood, ethyl maltol enhances the overall experience by providing a soft, sugary, and comforting undertone. It balances out some of the sharper, more resinous notes, creating a smoother and more inviting finish. The combination of Ethyl Maltol with other ingredients in the fragrance results in its signature sweet, airy, and yet rich character, making it both unique and widely adored.
