About this material

Nerol

Nerol is a versatile and widely used aroma chemical, valued for its fresh, delicate rosy-floral character with subtle citrus and green nuances.

It brings a distinctive brightness and natural freshness to rose compositions, offering a softer, more luminous character than can be achieved with Geraniol or Citronellol alone.

Particularly effective in floral accords, Nerol enhances the natural character of Rose, Mimosa, Magnolia, Lilac, Violet, Jasmine and Muguet (Lily of the Valley).

Its fresh, gently sweet floral profile also makes it an excellent addition to citrus colognes, Orchid accords and other delicate floral fragrances.

Even at relatively low concentrations of 1–2% in a fragrance composition, Nerol can produce a noticeable effect, adding freshness, lift and subtle complexity while helping to create smooth transitions between citrus top notes and floral heart notes.

Blending Suggestions

Nerol blends particularly well with Cardamom, Coriander, Ginger and Ivy Absolute, creating fresh, aromatic and subtly spicy floral combinations.

It also pairs beautifully with Bergamot, Petitgrain and Bois de Rose, making it especially useful for developing elegant citrus-floral compositions, natural rose accords and fresh, transparent fragrances.
